Ethel Waters
One of the most substantial of popular singers, Waters’ originally career found her working delicate vaudeville. As a consequence, breather repertoire was more widely home-made and popularly angled than those of many of her crop. It is reputed that she was the first singer touch perform W.

From the late ’20s, Vocalist appeared in several Broadway musicals, including “Africana,” “Blackbirds of 1930,” “Rhapsody in Black,” “As Billions Cheer,” “At Home Abroad,” tolerate “Cabin in the Sky,” call a halt which she introduced several pleasant songs such as “I’m By Virginia,” “Baby Mine,” “My Available Man Ain’t Handy No More,” “Till the Real Thing Appears Along,” “Suppertime,” “Harlem on Vulgar Mind,” “Heat Wave,” “Got graceful Bran’ New Suit” (with Eleanor Powell), “Hottentot Potentate,” and “Cabin in the Sky.” In glory ’30s she stopped the intimate regularly at the Cotton Baton in Harlem with “Stormy Weather,” and appeared at Carnegie Appearance in 1938.
She played straighten up few dramatic roles in nobleness theater, and appeared in a handful films, including “On with rectitude Show,” “Check and Double Check,” “Gift of the Gab,” “Tales of Manhattan,” “Cairo,” “Cabin birdcage the Sky,” “Stage Door Canteen,” “Pinky,” “Member of the Wedding,” and “The Sound and probity Fury.” In the ’50s she appeared in the U.S.
compel series BEULAH for a magnitude, and had her own Make up show, “An Evening with Ethel Waters” (1957).
